Hi, I’m Danny Karon, your Lovable Lawyer here with your holiday shot of legal wellness.

A lot of us are traveling again over the holidays and we haven’t traveled for about two years. We’re rusty and that’s where the schemers try to get you. I’m going to talk about three travel related schemes to watch out for over the holidays.

The first is vacation rentals. A lot of us know Airbnb and VRBO. If you come across a weirdly named vacation rental online, don’t give your credit card information. You could show up and there’d be no property there for you to even rent.

Two is free vacations. I have this happen to me a lot. Someone will call and say “Hey listen, we’re a vacation club. You’ve got credits. Give me your credit card number.” Don’t do it. It’s usually a scheme or a scam.

Third, this is really weird one. If your hotel room phone rings and somebody says it’s the front desk and they want to verify your credit card information because you didn’t give it to them right downstairs, don’t do it. That’s also a scam.

Be careful, be safe, be smart. You know this holiday season lots of folks are naughty, not nice, and that’s not okay. It shouldn’t affect or victimize you.
